Smart Form Validation with Allowlist & Blocklist in KonfHub
K

KonfHub is an AI-powered, GDPR-compliant platform for seamless ticketing, secure attendee management, and smooth event operations. Say goodbye to complexity and hello to seamless, powerful event management!

Membership-based organizations such as professional associations, industry chambers, alumni networks, clubs, certification bodies, private communities, sports organizations, and cultural or nonprofit institutions often offer discounted or complimentary event tickets to their members.

For event organizers, this creates an operational challenge: how can member eligibility be verified automatically so only valid members can access exclusive pricing?

To solve this, KonfHub has introduced a new feature under Advanced Settings for Custom Forms — Allowlist and Blocklist Validation.

With this feature, organizers can control which values are accepted or rejected for specific custom form fields simply by uploading an Excel file. It is especially useful for validating memberships and ensuring only eligible attendees can claim member-only discounts or free tickets.

What is the Allowlist Feature?

The Allowlist helps you define a list of approved values for a custom form field.

Once enabled, only the values included in your uploaded Excel file will be accepted during registration. Any value outside the approved list will be rejected automatically.

Example Use Cases for Allowlist

  • Validate member IDs for association or club events

  • Accept only verified employee IDs for internal company events

  • Allow registration only for approved college roll numbers

  • Restrict access to invited guests using unique codes

  • Approve registrations only from selected departments or branches

This ensures that only eligible participants can complete registration.

What is the Blocklist Feature?

The Blocklist works in the opposite way.

You upload an Excel file containing values that should be restricted, and if a registrant enters one of those values, the submission will be blocked.

Example Use Cases for Blocklist

  • Block blacklisted members or inactive IDs

  • Restrict test/demo entries from being reused

  • Stop banned users from registering again

  • Exclude specific domains, codes, or records

This gives organizers more control over unwanted or restricted entries.

How It Works in KonfHub

Once you create an event on KonfHub, you’ll be automatically redirected to the Event Admin Dashboard.

In the Event Info -> Forms section, you’ll find a list of pre-defined forms and you can create custom forms. Under each Custom Form in Advanced Settings, you can:

  • Click on Create Form and enable advanced settings

  • Choose either Allowlist or Blocklist

  • Upload an Excel file containing values

  • Add the Error Message which you want to display

  • Save settings

  • Registrations are automatically validated during form submission.

No manual screening required.

Why This Feature Matters

This validation feature can save lots of manual effort through automated checking.

  • Automation – No need to manually check IDs, codes, or membership details later.

  • Better Data Accuracy – Ensure only valid and expected responses are collected.

  • Secure Registrations – Prevent misuse, fake entries, or unauthorized access.

  • Save Organizer Time – Automated checks reduce operational effort.

  • Flexible for Every Event Type – Works for corporate events, educational events, private communities, memberships, invite-only events, and more.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

  1. What is Allowlist & Blocklist Validation in KonfHub?

Allowlist & Blocklist Validation is a smart form feature that helps organizers control registrations by validating custom form entries. With Allowlist, only approved values are accepted. With Blocklist, selected values are automatically rejected. This is ideal for member-only pricing, invite-only registrations, and controlled access events.

  1. What file format is supported for Allowlist and Blocklist uploads?

KonfHub supports Excel files (typically .xlsx format) for both Allowlist and Blocklist validation. You simply need to download the template and upload the filled template file containing the values you want to allow or block for a specific custom form field.

3. Can I apply Allowlist or Blocklist validation to multiple form fields?

Yes, you can configure Allowlist or Blocklist validation individually for each custom form field under Advanced Settings. This allows you to validate different types of data such as member IDs, email addresses, or access codes within the same form.

4. What happens if a user enters a value that is not allowed or is blocked?

If the entered value does not meet the validation criteria, the form submission will be prevented, and the user will see the custom error message defined by the organizer. This ensures only valid entries proceed.

5. Is this feature useful only for membership-based events?

No, while it is highly useful for membership validation, it can be applied to a wide range of use cases such as corporate events, invite-only registrations, college events, partner access control, and internal employee validations.

  1. Does Allowlist and Blocklist validation improve event data accuracy?

Yes, this feature significantly improves data accuracy by ensuring only valid and expected inputs are accepted. It reduces errors, eliminates fake entries, and helps maintain clean and reliable attendee data.

7. Is automated form validation better than manual registration approval?

Automated form validation is faster, more scalable, and reduces human error compared to manual approval. It allows organizers to instantly verify entries, save time, and streamline the overall registration process.
