Email Domain Blocklists and Allowlists

For these events, it is crucial to control who can register based on their email domain(s). Whether you're looking to block certain domains or allow only specific ones (or a combination of both), configuring domain restrictions can help streamline your registration process and ensure you target the right audience.This guide will walk you through creating domain restrictions and implementing them effectively.

### **Scenarios/Use Cases**

There are many scenarios where you may want to allow or restrict the email domain for registrations.

**Use Case #1 - Corporate Internal Event:** Your company Acme Inc is celebrating its 25th Anniversary, and want to set up registrations for the celebrations in KonfHub. Only employees with [acme.com](http://acme.com) and [acme.in](http://acme.in) email ids are allowed. For this scenario, create entries for [acme.com](http://acme.com) and [acme.in](http://acme.in) in Allowlist, and no other email ids other than these two domains will be allowed to register.

**Use Case #2 - Product Launch Event:** Your company is launching a new product and for this event, you want participants to register using their company/business email address. In this case, you can add email ids in domain block list with domains such as [gmail.com](http://gmail.com) and [yahoo.com](http://yahoo.com).

**Use Case #3 - Invite-only Event:** Your company is organizing an invite only event. For this event, you may want to add specific domains such as [competitor.com](http://competitor.com) in blocklist and [partner.com](http://partner.com) in the allowlist.

**Use Case #4 - Preventing Spam Registrations:** You have observed registrations using temporary / disposable email ids and want to block the registrations using such domains. So you can add such domains - say [temporary.com](http://temporary.com) or [disposable.org](http://disposable.org) by adding them in the blocklist.

### **Types of Domain Restrictions**

There are two primary types of domain restrictions you can implement:

* **Domain Blocklist**: This is a set of email domains that are restricted from registering for your event. Any email address with a domain in this list will not be permitted to complete registration.
    
* **Domain Allowlist**: This list includes email domains that are allowed to register. If an email domain is not on this list, the email address will be blocked from registering.
    

### **Steps to Create Domain Restrictions**

You need to use the Ticket -> Ticket Settings -> Restricted Email Domains for Registrations feature. Here are the steps.

**Step #1 - Navigate to Tickets:** Navigate to the event info section of your dashboard and select the "Tickets" option to get started.

**Step #2 - Click on Ticket Settings:** On the right side, you’ll find the "Ticket Settings" tab. Click on it, and then select "Sequence Number" to access the feature.

**Step #3 - Choose the Type of Domain Restriction:** Domain Blocklist: Select this option if you want to block certain domains. Domain Allowlist: Select this option if you want to allow only specific domains.

**Step #4 - Enter Domain Names:** In the provided text area, enter each domain name on a new line. Ensure that each domain name is entered correctly to avoid unintended restrictions.
